My story

Wayiba ! (Hello)

(way-iba)

My name is Wendy Walker-Ryan, I am the founder and owner of Coastal Colours Connections.

Born and raised in the Pilbara. I am a proud Njamal and Ngarluma woman.

I am a wife, mum, and grandmother, and my family is at the heart of everything I do. My mob have strong cultural connections throughout the Pilbara Region of Western Australia, and it is this deep sense of belonging that shapes who I am and how I walk through this world today.

Growing up surrounded by culture, community, and the stories of our old people has guided my values and my purpose. These connections have inspired me to share my experiences and knowledge with others, especially around the importance of communication — how we listen, how we speak, and how we build relationships with respect.

Through my work, I hope to help organisations see the strength and beauty that sits within cultural communication. I want leaders and teams to feel confident, respectful, and aware when engaging with Aboriginal people and communities. Everything I do is grounded in my family, my culture, and the belief that when we communicate with respect, we create workplaces that are safer, stronger, and more connected for everyone.

Welcome to Coastal Colours Connections.

I believe supporting respectful cultural communication and sharing creative digital art inspired by country, coast, and connection.

Two Paths, One Purpose I provide culturally‑grounded consultancy services and creative digital artworks that celebrate story, identity, and connection.

Cultural Communications & Awareness Consultancy.

With a focus on breaking down communication barriers between Aboriginal and non- Aboriginal people.

Mis-interpreted or mis-understood communication can lead to

not understanding the message, or how to communicate the message.

Providing an insight to how communication is the key to understanding the differences in how we communicate.

Ngurra Marni (Country Art).

I am a self-taught digital artist and I’m fairly new to the digital art world, I have always had the passion to share my stories and connection to country through my artwork.

My artwork speaks to the deep importance of staying connected to Country, so our future generations can continue to share our stories and care for the land. When we look after Country, Country looks after us.
